» Official figures from the Railway Department show that on Sunday 1,250 passengers were carried on the three excursion trains to Rotorua. On the Te Kuiti-Tauranga run 330 were carried and 420 on the Hamilton to Auckland trip.
During the last fortnight six grants for trophies have been made by the Herbert Smith trustees, involving £4B. Tho following bodies will receive trophies;—Auckland Girl Guides, Kerepeehi Sports Association, Orini Amateur Sports Association, and the Kaipaki, Patetonga and Pukemiro schools.
The camp at. Hopuhopu is at present occupied by the North Auckland Regiment, which is undergoing its annual course of military training.
Lieut. T. FI. Sissons and SecondLieuts. N. G. M. Sutherland and N. McK. McQueen, of the Waikato Regiment, have been posted to the retired list.
