MR. G. C. BLACK PROTESTS MINISTER’S EXPLANATION Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. Mr. G. C. Black, United Party member for Motueka, in a statement yesterday dissociated himself from the appointment of the Clerkship of the House of Representatives, as announced by the Government. He asked why officers with many years’ service had not been given promotion. In reply to Mr. Black’s protest concerning the appointment of Mr. T. D. H. Hall, the Minister of Lands, the Hon. G. W. Forbes, stated today that the appointment was made strictly in accordance with the revised Standing Orders which had been adopted by the House last session and which explicitly states that the appointment shall be made on the recommendation of Mr. Speaker.
