ZOO GIFT DELAYED

ANIMALS HELD UP IN AUSTRALIA DUE FROM SOUTH AFRICA The animals which Mr. W. 33. Sargent, of Hast London, South Africa, is presenting to the Auckland Zoo are detained in Sydney. They are, at the moment, housed in Taronga Park Zoo. It was thought the exhibits would have reached Auckland this morning by the Maunganui under the charge of Mr. Sargent, who was a passenger by the vessel. It appears that some difficulties regarding official papers have prevented Mr. Sargent from getting the animals out of Australia.

They comprise African bluebucks, “bush"babies”—a kind of opossum—and tortoises. A bluebuck was born on the way to Australia.
