STYMIED!
HAGEN AND KIRKWOOD NEW ZEALAND TOUR CANCELLED Probably, for the first time in their lives, Walter Hagen and J. H. Kirkwood, two of the world’s champion golfers, have been really and truly stymied. T h e y were to have played a match at Hamilton today, and another at ritirangi tomorrow. The prices of admission to the links were 11s at Hamilton and 10s at Titirangi. However, both men are now in quarantine at Motuihi, probably cursJhg their luck. However, on the wide, open spaces” of the island they may find compensation by driving ba lons the be “ ch and over the sandhills. At all events they will be able to provide some amusement for their fellow passengers in exile—but not at 10s a head. This morning Mr. M. E. Ward, secretary of the Maungakieike Golf Club received a telegram from Mr. Kirk-’ 11 l tIa ? that he and Hagen regretted having to cancel their golf wool, a ew Zealand - hat that they K possible eaVOUr t 0 arranSe one lateV

CATERING FOR PASSENGERS
ARRANGEMENTS AT MOTUIHI The task of victualling the passengers during their enforced stay on the Island, which may mean a matter of i two or three weeks, will be unde-' taken on the departure of the vessel by the Auckland office of the t'nioa Steam Ship Company. Supplies were sent down today, and tomorrow the company's superintending steward Yvill go to Motuihi and superintend arrangements. With 144 passengers in all classes to attend tn this will entail a fairly big staff, staff arrangements are also being carried out by the company. Although the company i s taking over the responsibility of catering for the passengers a charge, varying according to the class in which the pas senger is travelling will be levied on the passengers.
