POLICE INQUIRE INTO FINANCES ' ELDERLY MAN IN DOCK Admitting ihat he had broken his prohibition order and used indecent language in Oliphant Street on Saturday, George Wheatcroft pleaded not guilty at the Police Court this morning to being idle and disorderly, having insufficient lawful means of support. Wheatcroft, bearded and unkempt, was described as a baker, aged 51. “I have two or three doctors to prove that I am disabled for lifej” he declared. Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M.: That has nothing to do with you using this language. Constable Doole was of the opinion that Wheatcroft never did any work The language had been used to a woman with whom accused had been living.
Accused said he lived by letting rooms. His sister helped him also Senior-Sergeant O’Grady added that there was a suggestion of Wheatcroft being in receipt of 30s a week from his sister. A remand of one week was ordered so that inquiries could be made.
