STANDARD AND VACUUM JOIN FORCES CAPITAL OF £180,000,000 NEW YORK, Friday. The directors of the Standard Oil Company of New York and the Vacuum Oil Company announce a merger with a capital of £180,000,000. The companies are two former units of the Standard Oil “tru-et,” which was dissolved by consent, following upon a decree of the United States Supreme Court in 1911.

The announcement was in the form of a letter to the stockholders. It is revealed that the Government intends to test the legality of the merger in the Courts.
