SUVA BUFFETTED
WHIRLWIND DAMAGES SMALL CRAFT GALE OF 120 M.P.H. SUVA, Sunday. A whirlwind from the north-east struck Suva at 5.30 p.m. yesterday. It drove along the waterfront at a rate of 120 miles an hour. The chief damage was done at the yards of Terry and Son, boatbuilders, and to public works. A man and a boy were slightly injured. A schooner, the Helena, belonging to Terry and Son, which was on the slip for repairs as a result of a recent hurricane, was lifted up five feet and landed clear of the slip at an angle of 45 degrees. Small craft were thrown 50 yards. The damage done to the Shell Oil Stores is estimated at £4OO.
