“KIDDING” AND BRAG
ATTACK ON AUSTRALIAN TROOPS VIRULENT NEW WAR BOOK Reed. 9 a.m. LONDON, Sunday. Reviewers are praising the latest anonymous war book entitled “War is War,” by “ex-private.” ft. C. Sherrlff, author of "Journey’s End,” describes the book as “an English All Quiet.” The author bitterly criticises staff officers, rails agajndt war, and attacks the Australians. "I am sorry the Australians were on oar side” he writes. "I met some very good ones, but their black sheep achieved extraordinary prominence. They were brave men on the whole, but not nearly such fine fellows as they boasted of being. They ‘kidded’ simple people into believing their brag, still X must say this for them: they did kill a few of our military police.”
