HOOT GIBSON ON WEDNESDAY The current programme at the Roxy Theatre will be screened for only two more days. This includes the two exciting underworld talkies, “Light Fingers,” starring lan Keith and Dorothy Revier, and “Acquitted,” a courtroom story starring Margaret Livingstone and Lloyd Hughes. Hoot Gibson comes to the Roxy Theatre on Wednesday in “The Long, Long Trail,” Universal’s high-powered riding fighting, romantic picture of the West. It is a talking picture. All the ingredients that go to make up the best action picture are in this production. Hoot is seen at his best in a hard-riding, hard-fighting role, with plenty of humour interspersed to keep the balance even. Hoot plavs the part of a crackerjack cowboy who gets into all sorts of complications through his love for a girl and his desire to win a rodeo sweepstakes race for his ranch. There, is plenty of villainy afoot to keep things interesting at all stages of the Sa Some corking rodeo scenes are incorporated in the picture. Gibson and the entire company travelled hundreds of miles to the big rodeo at faalmas. California, and remained there for a week to insure getting plenty of real rodeo atmosphere. Gibson is an expert on rodeo stuff, having once carried oft the all-round championship at the Pendleton Round-up. Charming and petite Sally itaiers plavs opposite Gibson in “The Long. T one Trail ’’ The strong cast includes Kathryn McGuire. James Mason, Archie Ricks, Walter Brennan and Howard Truesdeil.
