SERVICE IN WELSH

ST. DAVID HONOURED HARVEST FESTIVALS In honour of Saint David, the annual service in the Welsh tongue was held in the Mount Eden Congregational Church yesterday afternoon. The preacher, the Rev. Morgan Richards, spoke in Welsh. Hymns and solos appropriate to the national spirit were sung. The Rev. R. C. Roberts was the preacher at the evening service. Harvest festival services were held in several city and suburban churches yesterday. Large congregations attended St. Peter’s Anglican Church Takapuna. The church was decorated for the occasion. Large contributions of fruit and gifts of the harvest were arranged in the church.

Similar services were held in St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Epsom, the preacher being the vicar, the Rev. F. P. Willis. The morning and evening services at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Devonport, were conducted by the minister, the Rev. W. Lawson Marsh. Special festival music was given by the choir. The soloists were Mrs. M. Thompson and Miss Ida Holmes. A large number of harvest gifts will be distributed among the Presbyterian orphanages. A dedication service to mark the completion of the new rostrum in tile Belmont Presbyterian Church was conducted by the Rev. S. J. Atkins yesterday morning. Mr. Atkins preached at a special evening service. The anthems. “Te Deum” and “Hark. Hark, Soul,” were sung by the choir.
