SLOW TRANSIT
f T , ROTTING owners and trainers J nowadays find many things to add to the hardship of their lot, and one of their chief complaints is the slow transit by rail to and from meetings. One trainer informed the writer on Saturday that he left Te Awamutu with his horses at 7.30 a.m. on Friday, and arrived in Auckland at 12.30 a.m. on Saturday, the journey, somewhere about 100 miles, occupying 17 hours. When the old T.O. and B. Association was operating, even in its quiet way, transit was one question usually arranged by secretary Knight, but since the sudden death of the new body, it is evident no co-operation is aimed at by trainers to secure suitable transit.
