WINE WITH A “KICK”
AUSTRALIAN PRODUCT PLUS GERMAN SPIRIT PREPARED ON THAMES-SIDE Reed. 10 a m. LONDON, Friday. A Thames bargee, recently unable to "walk the white line,” explained that he had been sampling a mysterious red wine at two shillings a pint, which is prepared in a Thames-side building. An investigation shows that it is a very fiery, intoxicating liquor made jrom the cheapest Australian port, fortified with a crude potato spirit trom Germany, the importation of which is legal. The beverage possesses a pronounced hick” and is very popular in the North of England.
