Boys on Farms Machinery was set up by the Auckland Chamber of Commerce during the winter to facilitate the placing of city lads in farm employment, and 50 lads were placed. Although unemployment has remained acute there have not been sufficient lads coming forward seeking farm posts to fill the vacancies, of which the chamber had particulars on its book, so that the scheme virtually broke down at the beginning of the milking season. There are still a number of farmers on the books of the chamber and boys will be sent to them as they come forward.
