UNPUNCTUAL CRICKETERS
T ACK of punctuality is one of complaints from which Wellington cricket is suffering at the present time, and frequent are the growlings made by captains and umpires. Even senior fixtures are not free of this trouble, but it is particularly bad among the junior grades. So serious has it become that the Wellington Umpires’ Association this week wrote to the Wellington Cricket Association asking that the matter should be dealt with severely. It lias even been suggested that when teams take the field late on the second day of matches, it is frequently done with a distinct objective—of bringing about
a draw. The association has decided that late starting must be stopped and they have written to the individual clubs in regard to the matter as a first move, but if this is not sufficient to overcome the trouble more drastic methods will be adopted.
