“SURE!” SAID FRITZ!
Any story about Fritz Holland is worthy of a place in a devoted to sport, says the Christchurch “Sun.” At a recent Scottish gathering Fritz, who has had several k.o. victories over the saxophone, breathed appropriate airs soulfully and skilfully. It was a good turn. Next day a member of the audience accosted and congratulated Fritz. “That’s vurry kind of you,” said the man of cuffs and clefs. “It was great to hear you play those old Scottish airs instead of .the American trash we generally get,” said the member of the audience. “Sure,” said Fritz. “The blanked Americans are no use to anybody. They spoil everything they touch.” “Sure,” said Fritz. “They’ve no taste, no culture, or anything.” “Sure,” said Fritz. “Wall, I guess I vamoose. S’long!” Fritz imported a sense of humour as well as a saxophone from America.
