ANIMALS FOR ZOO

ANTELOPES AND TORTOISES GIFTS FROM SOUTH AFRICA Advice has been received that a consignment of antelopes and six rare specimens of tortoises for the Auckland Zoo have arrived in Sydney by the motor-ship Tricolour. The animals are being presented to Auckland through the generosity of Mr. W. E. Sargent, of East London, who has charge of the new exhibits. Besides the animals referred to in the message, Mr. Sargent is understood, from previous advice received by the Town Clerk, Mr. J. S. Brigham, to be bringing also some bush babies, a species not unlike opossums. Mr. Sargent is leaving Sydney today bv the Maunganui for Auckland with his gifts.
