BANE OF MOTORISTS
BOYS WITH TROLLIES ON STREETS ‘ MUST BE CONTROLLED” As a result of an accident in which a Takapuua boy was injured when his trolley collided with a iuotor r car, Cr. Byrce Hart suggested at last evening's meeting of the Takapuna Borough Council that the time had come when the council should prohibit, or at least control, the use of trollies. Cr. Hart characterised them as "obnoxious and dangerous,” and the "bane of all motorists.” The Mayor, Mr. J. W. Williamson, stated that some time ago the council had approved of a draft by-law drawn on the lines indicated. Unfortunately final acceptance had been held up pending the return of the borough solicitor to Auckland. The opinion that special legislative authority would have to be obtained before any local authority could satisfactorily deal with the trolley pro-, blem was expressed by Cr. J. F. Colegrove. Mr. Williamson undertook to bring the subject up, if opportunity arose, at the annual conference of the Municipal Associations at Invercargill early in March.
