TAKAPUNA RACECOURSE

ABOLITION SUGGESTED A suggestion that the activities of the Takapuna Jockey Club might be combined with tnose of the Avondale Club and the Takapuna racecourse used for sports grounds, was made by Mr. E. Aldridge, chairman of the Devonport Domain Board, last evening, during a discussion on the pressing need for providing accommodation for sports in Devonport. In addition to the Domain area and Stanley Bay Park Devonport has 19 acres at Narrow Neck, of which only three acres are used, and 31 acres in Melrose Park, of which only 3£ acres have been brought in.
