GOOD RUNNING TIMES

ELLIOTT AND HENRY IN FORM CARTER S SPORTSMAN CUP Scoring wins in two sprint races, K. Carter, a handicap man, topped the aggregate in the Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club’s Sportsman Cup meeting last evening on the Domain. Carter showed considerable promise, and his finishes were excellently judged. Fine displays of form were made by T. E. Henry and A. J. Elliott. Off scratch, Henry gained first in the quarter-mile run, and covered the distance in the good time of 51 2-ssec. Elliott, also off scratch, gained third place in the 100 yards. The time was 9 9-10 sec, and, as inches only were between the placed men, Elliott made a really fine sprint. Elliott was just headed out of first place in the furlong race, in which a satisfactory time was returned. E. B. Smith, scratch man, won the half-mile, and N. F. Cooper, also off scratch, won the mile. S. Litchfield showed excellent form in the- cycling events. The points in the Sportsman Cup were: K. Carter, 12; E. B. Smith, 9; T. E. Henry, 6; N. F. Cooper, 4; A. J. Elliott, J. A. Crum, A. Clarke, R.
