Dargaville’s Annual Opens on Saturday
FINE FIELDS ENGAGED A PRELIMINARY REVIEW The annual race meeting of the Dargaville Racing Club is to be held at -Dai-gaville on Saturday and Monday next, and with pretty good fields engaged the sport should be both entertaining and interesting. The course is in fine order, and given fine weather for the two days the club should more than hold its own. There are seven left in the Dargaville Cup, and with a dozen remaining in the Avoea Handicap, the second leg of the double, as well as good fields in all the other events, there should be witnessed some of the keenest racing ever staged on the course. Recent improvoements include a modern totalisator house. The following horses are named as being among those likely to get in the money in their engagements (the final summing-up will be given tomorrow) : Maiden Handicap.—Royal Day, Lord Hopetoun, Odd Sox, Neil, Snowplane and Bonnie Day.
