it two-mile bout, Writer going away 48 yards behind the others. Nebraska broke early, and Peterson soon led his companion, but with a mile covered his associates closed up. Nebraska was shaping well, but broke again, and was done with at the end of 12 furlongs. Here Writer was going splendidly, to overhaul Sebisca, with Peterson slightly in the lead. Peterson finished in front at the box, the distance on the outside of the grass being traversed a shade better than five minutes. Kohara (A. Bryce) jumped away on the grassless circuit, at the 12-furlong barrier, and after reaching the half at about 1.10, warmed up, to pass the mile station in 2.16*. From here on the pace w*as increased, and the black horse, putting plenty of dash into his work, arrived at the nine in 3.20 A, the first half being traversed in 1.4.
