Major-General R- Young, C. 8., «* KXS** was a passenger to Frankton by the Limited this morning. J- A. C. Bain, Chief Inspector of Mines, is at present on an official visit to the coal mines at Huntly. professor X*. W. Burbidge, of the Auckland University College, returned from Wellington by the Limited today. Mr. J. Trevithick, chairman of the Auckland branch of the United Political Farty, left- for Wellington last evening. Sir Joseph Ward was present at the Rotorua races on Monday and Tuesday. He remained in his motor-car during the races. Mr. Eric Kelly, of the staff of the Thames branch of the Bank of New Zealand, lias been promoted and transferred to Sydney. His particular work is gold assaying. Messrs. H. R. Jenkins, J. S. Fletcher find G. C. Munhs, M.P.’s, left for Wellington last evening to attend the meeting of the United Fartv tomorrow. Mr. F. Lye, M.P. lor Waikato, joined tho train at Frankton Junction. Mr. Edward Palgrave Davy, son of tho Rev. and Mrs. E. Palgrave Davy, of Auckland, has received an appointment as pilot officer in the Royal Air Force, and is proceeding to Egypt this week for training in the flying school at Abu Sueir.
