Bishop Liston arrived from., Christchurch by tho Limited express today. Mr. £. J- Harbutt was granted leave o f* absence for six months by the Auckland Hospital Board yesterday. He will leave for a trip to Kngland and th'3 Continent on March 11. Si. Vickers was yesterday elected chairman of the Taranaki Hospital Board, to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of the previous chairman, Mr. C. H. Burgess. Messrs. W. E. Parry, M. J. Savage, W. J. Jordan and IT. G. R. Mason, M-P-'q. left for Wellington last evening to attend a meeting of the Labour Party. The Hon. Sir Walter Carneross, Speaker of the Legislative Council, arrived at Frankton from Palmerston Xorth by the Limited this morning. Mr S. J. Harbutt, who shortly leaves on a visit to the United Kingdom, has been granted six months’ leave of absence by the Auckland Hospital Board. The chairman, Mr. W. Wallace, and several members praised Mr. Harbutt’s work at a meeting yesterday afternoon^ Mr. J. Robertson, senior inspector of schools at Napier, is to take the position of senior inspector to the Auckland Education Board when Mr. C. W. Garrard retires on March 31. Mr. N. H. S. Law, an inspector under the Wanganui board, will take the inspector’s position of Mr. G. H. Plummer, who retires on the same date.
