NAME FOR STREET

TOWN BOARD’S DILEMMA COMPETITION FOR CHILDREN Faced with the necessity of renaming a portion of one of the roads which extends from one end of the Papatoetoe Town District to the other, the Town Board decided at last evening’s meeting in invite proposed names from children attending the Papatoetoe Public School, and to donate a prize of 10s 6d to the child whose suggestion is accepted. The Papatoetoe Welfare League originally drew the board’s attention to the advisability of re-naming portion of Station Road. On receipt of its recommendation the board invited names from the league. These were submitted, but did not prove acceptable. Last evening a further letter was received from the league, asking the board to take action. After a long discussion it was decided to invite names from the children.
