WAITOMO TOWER BOARD
Strong exception was taken by members of Waitomo Power Board, at its meeting on Monday, at the repeated interruptions in the power supply, the engineer reporting that on February 7. the town was without power for two hours 17 minutes. It was decided to write to the department, protesting against lengthy cessations of electric power. “That power boards should take steps to protect themselves by having only fully qualified engineers employed,” was a remit proposed by Mr. A. Blackman. In moving the above, Mr. Blackman considered the time had arrived when a power board should be permitted to employ only experienced engineers, so as to ensure tlie very best service. It was decided to forward the remit to the next engineers’ conference, and also to the power boards and supply authorities’ confernce. The question of having a man stationed at Otorohanga was again raised by Mr. Gorton, who thought that such a step was warranted, considering the service to which the Otorohanga consumers were entitled. After discussion, the question was left in abeyance till next meeting, when a record of trading would be presented. A visit of inspection of the board’s district will be made *bv all members on March 20. with a view to familiarising? them with areas under reticulation and districts possibly suitable for such. The set, tlers at Mahiihi will also be interviewed on the same date.
