MEETING DISCUSSES CANCER PRESIDENT ENTERTAINS Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. Medical men from all parts of the Dominion, as well as two distinguished Melbourne practitioners, 'Dr. O. B. Silberberg and Dr. C. W. B. Littlejohn, are in Christchurch for the annual conference of the British Medical Association, New Zealand branch. The conference was opened this morning and will continue until Saturday. A meeting of the council was held this morning, followed by a combined meeting of all sections. Later there was a full discussion on the subject of the diagnosis and tlie treatment of chronic rheumatism. Meetings were held this afternoon of the ear, nose and throat section and the radiological section. A film defnonstration on cancer, given by Dr. Anderson (Dunedin), led to a discussion on cancer of the breast. This evening incoming president, Dr. T. Mill, with Mrs. Mill, entertained the delegates. The president delivered his inaugural address, which was an historical review of the progress of medical science, and practice, with special reference to anaesthesia and the evolution of nursing and antisepsis.
