FIRE AT EDEN TERRACE

HOUSE BADLY DAMAGED Extensive damage was done to the top floor of a two-storeyed wooden house in Shaddock Street, off Eden Terrace, when fire broke out at about 11.30 last evening. A hurried escape was made by the owner of the house, Mr. R. J. Mullins, who was the only occupant at the time. The top floor was burning fiercely when the City Fire Brigade arrived but good work on the part of the brigade subdued the flames before they had spread to any appreciable extent to rooms on the ground floor. The four rooms on the upper storey were badly damaged. The building was covered by an insurance policy for £6OO in the State Office, and the contents were also insured in the same office.
