Willetts behind her, jumped off at tho two-mile disc, and on reaching the 12-furlong Mountains. Tho two Blue Mountain mares went a nice mile together, then "Willetts bid Joseph goodPye, and the black mare streaked home the last half a solid clip. All Bell tackled the mile and aqUarter route on his own and was ■oafing on his driver as they approached the half-mile post. Here unhoppled set off with the old yold Bell gelding and the pair raced e box. full of vigour. Carmel uid best in tho final stages. V»nity Boy, with Les Laver in tn© saddle, slipped over a mile at » good gait. The first half was taken too seriously, which left the httl© pacer short of breath in the ■ast 100yds. He battled on gamely, however, tt> register the best mile Of the day.
