YESTERDAY’S EPSOM WORK Although the track at Epsom waa in splendid order yesterday, •nd provided fast footing, there were not many rousing work-outs. Vanity Boy’s mile essay was perhaps the most attractive.. * * * The Abbey and Dad’s Hope (in saddle) stepped away smartly from tho mil© and a-hulf post, and with a mile covered in good time, the latter Pulled up. The Abbey, pacing resolutely. ran along to the winning post on his own, and ho wound up a good l *st in fino style. . Two miles was the portion of Eveon Locanda and Pavlova, but the f'Pening half of the section was traversed at steady moderate pace. An improvement was effected after pass-*r-g the mile station, and over the last half W. Nightingale s pacers turned ou a Pice lot of speed. Mountain Dell, with W. Willetts behind her, jumped off at tho two-mile disc, and on reaching the 12-furlong Mountains. Tho two Blue Mountain mares went a nice mile together, then "Willetts bid Joseph goodPye, and the black mare streaked home the last half a solid clip. All Bell tackled the mile and aqUarter route on his own and was ■oafing on his driver as they approached the half-mile post. Here unhoppled set off with the old yold Bell gelding and the pair raced e box. full of vigour. Carmel uid best in tho final stages. V»nity Boy, with Les Laver in tn© saddle, slipped over a mile at » good gait. The first half was taken too seriously, which left the httl© pacer short of breath in the ■ast 100yds. He battled on gamely, however, tt> register the best mile Of the day.
