THREE MONTHS’ GAOL FOR OFFENDER MAGISTERIAL COMMENT \ Press Association PALMERSTON X., Today. In the Police Court today S. G. Railton, of Taihape, pleaded guilty to a charge of obtaining £lO in Taihape by means of a valueless cheque, £ 5 in Palmerston North by & similar method and with attempting to obtain £2t at Levin by representing himself *»s Robert King. In sentencing accused to three months’ gaol on each charge, the sentences to be concurrent, the magistrate said that comment bad been made in the Supreme Court about the prevalence of this type of offence. In the magistrate’s opinion orlme would only be stimulated if accused were simply convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon.
