TODAY’S WORK FREE ADVICE PLEASES The track at Alexandra Park was in splendid order today for trials, but as most of the Otahuhu competitors had been geared up yesterday there was not much fast work accomplished. Native Prince (J. Shaw) and Jewel Pointer (A. Julian) had a run over the Cup journey. Both paced in good style, and were hard at it over the final stages, Jewel Pointer finishing a couple of lengths in front of his companion. * * * Carmel ran a. merry mile and for the going it was the best effort of the morning. The last half-mile was left behind at a 2.8 clip. * * * Free Advice elected to go two miles and with a mile covered in 2,182 she began to move along smarter. She reached the 12furlong peg in 3.260, coming home the last half in 1.4, making the good time of 4.302 for the full journey. The mare finished up her task in good style. Explosion had Warplane?as a companion over tAvo miles. The latter hung in behind for the'major portion of the trip, but put in a final dash
that saw him break even at the post. It was a strong Avorking essav. * ' * * Benefice Avas asked to go a mile and the mare, who is carrying a lot more condition, got to the end of the journey in attractive style. The last half registered 1.7. * * * Lord Nepean was Avorked in saddle over a mile, but while he paced all right the time was not to be compared with that of the previous competitor. * * * Rose Bingen trotted 12 furlongs in great style. She never looked to put a foot wrong, and left the final circuit behind at a solid clip. Kohara in Form At Otahuhu Kohara pleased the track watchers by running two miles m H© was Avell out on the centre of the track and the manner in which he finished up his task suggests lie is in the right order for Saturday s big race. He will be driven by Andy Bryce. J. Bryce, senr, arrives on Ft-iday and will be behind Free Advice in the Otahuhu Cup. ’Torpedo Huon. who is showing- good form in his work, will oe driven by his trainer, L. McMahon. T" „ P f“ jl today informed Abaydos” that Great Peter is going along satisfactorily in his Cup preparation, and he expects the brother to Great Bingen and Peter Bingen to put up a good fight; although he recognises there are several that will be hard to oeat. Waikaha, after a workput yesterday, was bleeding, and his owner is dubious at present about starting the Gold Bell gelding on Saturday.
