MISSING FLYERS FOUND
BODIES BURIED IN SNOWBANK CRASH IN ALASKA United I\. 1.-—By Telegraph — Coi'j/i'ight Reed. 9.30 a.m. NOME, Monday. The frozen bodies of Carl Ben Eielson and Earl Borland were found buried in a snowbank, where they were hurled as their plane crashed on November 9 near North Cape. Eielson and his mechanic were returning with a cargo of furs from the Siberian coast when a fog intervened. Evidently their altimeter falsely registered I,oooft and when going at full speed they crashed into the snow mound, scattering engine parts and fuselage over half an acre, and killing both men instantly. Twenty thousand pounds was spent by the United States and the Canadian Governments in searching, while Soviet officials rendered valuable assistance, having IS workmen digging snow to uncover the bodies.
