Obituary

MR. J. M. MORICE The death occurred on Sunday of Mr. J. M. Morice, of Wadestown, for 25 years senior member of the Wellington City engineer’s department. He was in his 69th year, and had for some time suffered from heart trouble. Mr. Morice was born in 1861 in Forfarshire, and came to New Zealand when a young man, settling down as an engineer and surveyor. In 1902 he received an appointment as assistantcity engineer in Wellington. He became an associate member of the Institute of Civil Engineers, a Bachelor of Science, a member of the Sanitary Institute and a member of the New Zealand Society of Engineers. He was due to retire from his position in Wellington in 1928 but. at the council's request, remained until the arrival of the present city engineer. Mr. G. A. Hart. He finally retired on superannuation in September. 1927. He leaves a widow a&d 9D&
