Woolley. wlio owned the [launch Ozone, which was wrecked not 1 Jong ago and became a total loss ex- * ppt for the engine and some gear, has acquired the 32ft V-bottom launch isurf. • * * Advice has been received in the • it.N.Z.Y.S. rooms that the launches Linda and Reira, which left last week on a cruise on the East Coast, are sheltering in Mercury Bay. Conditions have been anything but pleasant on the coast during the week-end and boats have not had a chance of getting out tefter the big-game fish. * * • A reminder that the Northcote and Thrkenhead Regatta takes place on » Saturday, March 1. Entries for the mailing and power events close with Messrs. John Burns and Co., Ltd., Customs Street, on Monday. February 24, at 5 p.m. The first half of the programme. consisting of aquatic sports, takes place at Hinemoa Park next Saturday. • * * A meeting of the Auckland Yacht fend Motor-Boat Association will be held in the squadron rooms this evening. The business is mainly to do • ■with clearing up the late Sanders Cup . contest finances. * • * Tt is reported that Mr. J. Johnson, of One Tree Hill, has bought Mr. A. ~R. Townsend's well-known racer Miss ' \rawa. Mr. L. Stericker. of Hum Bug name, is understood to have given up ;*<utboarding for this season at least. UHe spends most of his leisure time In his fine launch Rautangi. * # • j. The fleet of outboard runabouts is Rapidly growing. Messrs. Collings and •Bell, of St. Mary’s Bay, are building a 3.2 ft cruising boat for a Mr. McCullough. who will use the boat for trout fishing. Other builders are also turning their attention more to cruising lypes than to racers proper. Indications are that outboard racing as far as the very high powered craft are concerned has reached a too expensive point for most enthusiasts in a young city. Hence the swing to runabouts. m tt * The race for auxiliary engined keel fc-achts. which was time-tabled for last Saturday, had to be postponed. Mr. >l. H. Northcroft, of Ilex, was indisposed and in deference to him this ftvent, which has become an annual fixture for a gold trophy, was allowed to lapse for the time being.
