Dunedin sportsmen got to like Norman Gillespie mighty well when he was in the Southern city last year, and when it was. known that the Otago Boxing Association, had signed the genial Norman up again there was a general “Hurrah!” sent forth. It is not widely known that when in Dunedin as a feather-weight the Aussie champion had difficulty in making weight, but managed to do it in time. But Johnnie Leckie, his opponent, was not so successful, and it was only Gillespie’s good sportsmanship in allowing him a few more hours to rub off the superfluous ounces that enabled the then New Zealand champion to scale correct^.
