CYCLING TIME TRIAL

DWIGHT AND WADE HEAD HEAT A two-lap time-trial was held last evening at the W'estern Springs Stadium. Ten riders participated, some very creditable times being registered. A dead-heat for first place wag l*« corded. This was between H. Dwight and J. Wade, who registered lm 201 s, Next on the list was L. Roberta, WBO narrowly defeated A. Mackie for third honours by one-tenth of a second. The riders and the times taken for each competitor to complete the 1,090 metres were: F. Casey, 1.22 1-3 0; J. Dykes, 1.24 9-10: A. Mackie, 1.21 3-5; G. Galbraith, 1"4 1- J. Wade, 1.20 3-5; N. Casey, 1.24 2- H. Dwight, 1.20 3-5; G. Clark, 1.27 1-10; L. Roberts, 1.21 j; J. Leather, 1.24. After th€s trial two challenge matches were staged. In the first event 0. Gainsborough was challenged by N* Casey and G. Clark. The race was * good one, N. Casey running out a winner by half a wheel from G. Clarfc In the second challenge L. Baird was called upon to defend himself again** L. Dwight. The latter pro%-ed himself the better of the two by gaining * length victory. This evening a twomile handicap and a sprint championship will be decided. AUCKLAND CLUB Owing to the Western Spring Stadium being engaged tomorrow evening, the Auckland Cycle Clubs seven laps handicap, postponed from last week, will be held this evening*'* 5.45 p.m. The handicaps that wer* allotted last week will be used, wil" the addition of C.
