PIGEON FLYING
HIKURANGI CLUB’S RACE Owing to the railway being flooded and to adverse weather conditions the Hikurangi Homing Pigeon Club had to postpone its race from Helensville last Saturday, and a race from llaungaturoto was put on instead. This race carried with it prizes for the grand draw and they were won by the following:— Mr. Forsyth. 1 (silver teapot). Ticket holder. Mo. 167, 2 (biscuit barrel). Mr. J. Barlow. 3 (cruet). The race was flown in very bad weather. rain falling heavily at times, and the 171 birds which took part in the race had a hard battle. „ Result:—J. Lawson's Grand Parade, 1 yards a minute, l; J. Lawson’s Banger, 732.2 yards a minute, 2; L. Davies’s Sleepy, 722.3 yards a minute, 3: J. Baugh’s Maori Girl, 722.2 yards a minute, 4. This is the third race in succession that Grand Parade has won.
