RACING ABANDONED

NORTH SHORE TRIALS Bad tides and unfavourable weather prevented the West End and St. George’s Rowing Clubs from having trial rowing races on Saturday. Rough M'ater also decided the Waitemata Boating Club to abandon trial fours for the Denison trophies, but the fixture has been postponed until Saturday, Xlarch 1. The Auckland Rowing Club also abandoned its intended races for trial fours. Races were held at North Shore. NORTH SHORE CLUB Trial fours Mere rowed by the North Shore RoM'ing Club for cups presented by the captain and deputy-captain. Four crews had an interesting competition in calm M'ater. They rowed from North Head to the pavilion. The crews were: —Jinks, H. Oliver, Townsend, F. Norris: Willett, XI c - Dougal, Gardiner, Carlyle; Grey, Church, C. Oliver, B. XlcCallum; Eagles, Walsh, Eaton, XV. Seager. The first heat was between XlcCallum and Norris and the second between Carlyle and Seagar. Norris won by half a length from XlcCallum, Mho almost caught his opponent at the clubhouse. In the second heat Seagar won by a length. He was never troubled by Carlyle. In the final betvreen Norris and Seagar, Seagar led to the clubhouse. Then they rowed on even terms to the finish, but Norris forged ahead, winning by a canvas.
