“GOLD DIGGERS OF BROADWAY”
“Gold Diggers of Broadway,” Warner Brothers’ spectacular all-talking and colour production, which has the distinction of _ being the most popular film shown in Auckland this season, is drawing to the close of its long season.
Photographed entirely by the technicolour process, the picture marks a distinct departure from anything screened locally hitherto. The popular Winnie Lightner, known as the “Screen Tom Boy,” has the leading role, that of one of a party of four New York stage girls, who indulge in “gold digging” operations among their wealthy admirers. Ann Pennington, who is seen in some charming dances, and Nick Lucas, a singer of note, appear in the supporting cast. The excellent series of subordinate films is proving equally attractive and includes several entertaining variety numbers.
