ARRESTED AFTER SMASH
INTOXICATED DRIVER FINED £lO
Fo]lowincr a collision between two motor-cars in Queen Street on Saturday. Stanley Hardraker was arrested tor being intoxicated in charge of a motor vehicle. At the Polite Court this morning he was fined £lO. in default one month's imprisonment. His driving licence was cancelled for six months. Hardraker. a window cleaner, aged 10, was represented by Mr. Sullivan, who pleaded guilty for him. The offence was committed at 8.45 p.m. According to Senior - Sergeant O Grady, Hardraker had collided with the last of a line of taxis in a rank at the corner of Queen Street and Wellesley Street. Mr. Sullivan urged that the man had had only two drinks, but suffered from bad nerves. He was in poor circumstances and his car was not paid for yet. The Senior-Sergeant: It is not a bad case, but the car collided with was damaged to the extent of £3. Counsel pointed out that nobody had been injured. He would ask for leniency as accused was in poor circumstances. Default of the £lO fine was fixed at a month's imprisonment, and Hard raker was given 14 days ir. which to find the money.
