M.C.C.'S SPORTING OFFER
another test proposed FOR AUCKLAND MAY BE THIS WEEK-END
Arrangements are at present being made to play another cricket test at Auckland in place of the present uncompleted test.
Mr. A. T. Donnelly, the chairman f the New Zealand Cricket Council, told a Sun reporter this afternoon that ,he M.C.C. had offered to play another test against New Zealand and Mr. A. a H. Gilligan had expressed willingness to play this match this weeken^tlis afternoon officials of the New Zealand Council were engaged in trying to rearrange the Hawke’s Bay and Wanganui matches, and also for additional leave for members of the New Zealand XI.. to permit the match being Pl "Results have shown that the interest in cricket has grown st> remarkably In Auckland,” said Mr. Donnelly, "that the New Zealand Council is making every effort to let the Auckland public see a Test match, and every effort is being made to make the M.C.C.'s generous offer an accomplished fact.” Auckland has agreed to postpone its match for the Plunket Shield against Wellington this week-end, so as to place no obstacle In the wa y of an additional test. We are now getting in touch with Wellington to secure their approval astjyell.”
