KEEN SPORTSMAN PASSES

T'HE daath Has occurred at Hinds, A Ashburton, after a lengthy illn,»s. of Mr. John Farrell, one of the best-known light harness enthusiasts in Canterbury. He was a valuable member of the Ashburton Trotting Club, and one of its mainstays in the days when the progress of the sport was not so easily accomplished. The late Mr. Farrell always kept a trotter or two to vary his interest in a pastime he assisted to place on a high pedestal in his district, and any success achieved by the cardinal and black livery was always well received.
