RUSSIAN PAPER’S BITTER ATTACK
“ENEMY OF TOILING MASSES"
Reed. 12.50 p.m. MOSCOW. Thursday. In a violent attack on the Pope as exploiting the capitalist, as a friend of reaction and as the enemy of the toiling masses, the paper “Pravda” declares: —“He abandoned his earlier silence, which was prompted by the hope that the weakening orthodoxy would assist Catholicism.
“He only spoke when he was convinced that Russia was sweeping out all forms of superstition, regardless of creed.”
