An appeal for the provision of a suitable playing area for Frankton was made by Cr. D. D. Wilson at tbe borough council meeting on Wednesday evening. Cr. \1 ilson said tbe Beautifying Society could hardly be blamed for not working in the district, when there were no grounds on which to work. A sub-committee was appointed to investigate the question. * * * The dally averagre number of patients in the Waikuto Hospital during January was 260. For the period, 196 operations were performed. The present capacity of the hospital is 339 beds. The Waikato Diocesan School for Girls opened its first term in the new buildings on Wednesday. The site is one of rare beauty, and the openair classrooms, which have just bee . completed, are a model for the Waikato. There has been a substantial increase in the roll this year, the number of boarders being almost doubled. The staff has been completely changed w.th the exception of the matron, Miss Willison. Miss E. 11. Edwards. M.A. (Cantab.), is the new headmistress in succesion to Miss E. Necker. it is hoped to construct model swimming baths at the school shortly. The Mayor of Hamilton, the town clerk, and the borough engineer, are to report to the Director of Town Planning on the boundaries of the area to be dealt with in the regional planning area for the Waikato. As soon as the Health Department has approved of the plans, the Waikato Hospital Board will call for Tenders for additions to the infectious diseases ward. The following resignations were accepted at the meeting of the Waikato Hospital Board yesterday: Dr. H Burrell, Sisters W. D. Moncur and li! Cowie, and Staff Nurse I. A. Gray. The M.C.C. cricketers, who will arrive at Hamilton next Tuesday, will be met at the station ancl conducted to a hotel to lunch by a fleet of motorcars. In the afternoon they w ill probably be motored to Arapuni. On Wednesday morning they will be accorded a civic reception, and will be 1 entertained to the talkies, and at the i Hamilton Club in the evening.
