COLLAPSED ON SCOW
EX-POSTAL OFFICIAL’S SUDDEN DEATH
VICTIM OF HEART SEIZURE While out on a cruise on a scow, John Rule Hooper, an ex-postal official, aged 74, was found dead on deck at eight o'clock on Tuesday evening. Mr. Hooper was accompanying his son-in-law, Captain Carey, who is in charge of the scow Ngahau, owned by Winstone’s, Ltd., on a trip to Helena Bay to pick up shingle. Shortly before eight o'clock on Tuesday he complained of pains around the heart and went to bed. At 8.30, the engineer found him lying dead on the deck, dressed in his pyjamas. Mr. Hooper had been under medical attention for heart-trouble for some time. The body was brought back to Auckland last evening. .No inquest will be necessary.
