TE AROHA NOTES

To Aroha is to receive a visit from tno Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, who with other Reform members of Parliament •vvm deliver addresses on Tuesday morning l next. Although the time will not prove convenient to many electors, a large attendance is practically assured.

The swimming club lias arranged to hold a carnival on Wednesday evening next. There will be ten events, including relay races.

A complaint was voiced at the last meeting of the school committee that many children who had used the domain baths were affected with sore eyes and ears, and it was decided to write tho Tourist Department on the subject. The local tourist agent has stated that so far this season 1,926 children have used the swimming bath and no complaints have been received. Fully 5,000 gallons of water went through the bath every day. He intended to have a sample of the water taken by the health officer for analysis.

The poll on the loan proposal to l'aise £1,150 for rebuilding the Shaftesbury Bridge, in the Piako County, was lost by 49 votes to 36.
