Rotorua Carnival Opens On Saturday
POPULAR FIXTURE
EXCELLENT PROGRAMME The next racing fixture of purely Auckland interest is that of the Rotorua Racing Club, whose popular annual meeting is to be staged amid Rotorua’s thermal activities on Saturday and Monday. Racing fixtures at the club's course at Arawa Park have a charm all their own, and with the opportunity vouchsafed to do the meeting and view in between times the many fascinating scenic and thermal attractions it is small wonder that the town lias displayed the “house full” sign during the progress of the race carnival. On Saturday the club is going to stage an excellent programme of eight races, all the events having drawn splendid acceptances. Some good horses will be seen out in each of the three open events, while there will be a big field in the two-year-old contest, and there promises to be no dearth of runners in the hack race». So that everything points to a most
successful two days’ sport at Rotorua’s picturesque course. The Railway Department announces excursion fares to Rotorua as from tomorrow, while each day Waikato sportsmen will be catered for by a special train leaving Frankton Junction at 6.35 a.m., and returning after the last race. Preliminary Selections Latest advices from Rotorua state that the course is in splendid order and will furnish the best of going. It only needs the barometer to remain at set fair to ensure a most successful and enjoyable racing carnival on Saturday and Monday.
