TORTURE OF FLOGGING
ENGLISH BILL FOR ITS ABOLITION
LASTING PHYSICAL INJURIES LONDON, Tuesday, lu the House of Commons today Mr. G. Benson. Labour member for Chesterfield, Derby, w’as granted leave to introduce a Bill for the abolition of the cat-o’-nine-tails. The member described the system a 3 one of mutilation and torture. The back of an individual who was flogged was dreadfully injured and he carried the resultant scars to the day of his death. Most countries had abolished the practice long ago.
