BACK TO GAOL

STOLE AND PAWNED GRAMOPHONE OUT ONLY TWO MONTHS in December last, according to Chief-Detective Hammond, Robert Stewart came out of gaol after serving a term of six months. This morning Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., sent him back again for a similar term. Stewart, a labourer aged 44, pleaded guilty to the theft of a gramophone valued at £3 10s, from Robert Price on January 30. The chief detective said Stewart had stolen the machine from complainant's house and sold it to a dealer for ins. He had known the housekeeper and got away with the gramophone jvhsn her back was turned. "Stewart hasn't done a tap of work since he < ame out of gaol in December,” added the chief-detective. Sentence of six months’ imprisonment was imposed.
