TOFUA AT SUVA.—The Union Company’s Island steamer Tofua reached Suva from Apia at daybreak yesterday. The vessel is to sail tomorrow and she will arrive at Auckland next Mondaj\ ULIMAROA AT SYDNEY. —The Hud-dart-Parker steamer Ulimaroa reached Sydney from Wellington at five o’clock yesterday morning. The vessel is to sail on Friday and she is due at Auckland next Tuesday. THE PORT BRISBANE. —The Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Brisbane reached Lyttelton from London on Saturday. The vessel’s general merchandise cargo will be unloaded at Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff, Timaru and New Plymouth.

WELL-KNOWN TANKERS SOLD Another new shipping company, Victor Jensens Rederi A/S. of Oslo, has been established at Oslo, with Mr. Victor Jensen as managing director, and the wellknown Oslo shipowner and broker, Mr. L. Severin Skougaard, of Messrs. A. O. Andersen and Co., as a member of the board of directors. The company has acquired the three tank steamers Gold Shell, Silver Shell and Pearl Shell, each of 8,400 tons dead-weight, and built in 1915-1916, all well-known in the Australian and New Zealand trade. The vessels have been fixed on a 10 years' time charter to the Anglo-Saxon” Petroleum Company, Ltd., of London.

RANGITANE SAILS 9 P.M. —Now loading at Prince’s Wharf for London. the New Zealand Shipping Company’s motorliner Rangitane is announced to clear port at 9 o’clock this evening for Napier, Lyttelton and Wellington to fill up. The vessel is scheduled to sail finally from Wellington with passengers and cargo for Southampton and London, via Panama, on March 1.

SALE OF ARGYLLSHIRE.—It is reported that the well-known steamer Argyllshire, which has been engaged in the Australian trade for many years, has been sold to the New Zealand Shipping Company. The Argyllshire is a vessel of 11,948 tons, and was built at Glasgow by J. Brown and Company, Ltd., for the Scottish-Sliire Line (Turnbull, Martin and Co., managing agents), in 1911.

BRUNSWICK ARRIVES.—An arrival in port this morning was the electricallydriven tanker Brunswick, with a cargo of bulk oil from San Pedro. She berthed at Western Wharf to put out the local portion of her cargo into the Atlantic Union Oil Company’s tanks at Freeman’s Bay, and is later to sail for Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney, to discharge the remainder.

MAUI POMARE SAILED.—The Government motor-ship Maui Pomare sailed yesterday afternoon for Niue and Apia, taking the following passengers:—Miss IT. Cumming, Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Caddie, Mr. G. C. RADIO FROM NORTHUMBERLAND. —The local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company has received a radio message from the Federal steamer Northumberland, inward bound from Liverpool, stating that she expects to arrive in the stream here at midnight on Friday. The vessel has a cargo of general merchandise from West Coast United Kingdom ports for discharge here, and at Wellington, Lyttelton and Port Chalmers. The local portion will be unloaded at Queen’s Wharf.

THE PORT PIRIE.—The Common wealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Pirie was to leave Wanganui for Opua and Auckland last night to continue loading refrigerated and general cargo for England. She is expected at Auckland on Sunday evening. From Auckland the vessel will go to Gisborne and Wellington to complete loading. She is to be dispatched from Wellington for London, via Panama, on February 24. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company is the local agent.

PORT FREMANTLE SUBSTITUTED. —Advice received from the -Farmers’ Cooperative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., states that in view of the coal situation in Australia, it has become necessary to substitute the Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Denison for the same line’s motor-vessel Port Fremantle to load in New Zealand for London. Her loading itinerary will be slightly different. She was scheduled to leave New Plymouth yesterday after having loaded there and to load at Bluff from February 14 to 17, at Port Chalmers, on February 18 and 19, at Timaru from February 20 to 23, at Lyttelton from February-24 to 26, and at Wellington on February 27 and. 28, sailing from that port on her Homeward voyage on the last-mentioned date.

RUAHINE CLEARED COLON.—The local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company has received advice that the liner Ruahine reached Panama on February 7 and cleared Colon the rame day in continuation of her voyage from Napier to London. She was dispatched from Napier on January 17. KALINGO SAILS 8 P.M.—The Northern Steamship Company advises that the Lamb steamer Kalingo, at present at Central Wharf unloading the local portion of her cargo of Australian hardwood timber and poles, is to be dispatched at eight o’clock this evening for Onerahi, Wanganui and Greymouth to complete discharging. NORWEGIAN TANKER ORDERS.— Orders have been placed by Knut Knutsen, O. A. S., of Haugesund, for three 13,000-ton motor tankers. Two of these were ordered last July and one at the end of the November last. While tht first two are being built at Gothenburg the hull of the third xcssol is to be built by Blohm and Voss, Hamburg, who art also building the hull of another tanket the same size ordered by the Stockholm* Rederi-a.b. Svea. On being launched these hulls will be towed to Gothenburg where all the fitting out will be done t>3 Gotaverken, who will also supply th» propelling machinery.
