FOUND A BROOCH
WOMAN CHARGED WITH THEFT From Our Own Correspondent WAIHI. Tuesday. A young: married woman, aged 21 rears, pleaded guilty before Mr. F. W. Platts. S.M.. in the AVaihi Magistrate’s Court today, to a charge of having stolen a brooch valued at £l. the property of another woman. Sergeant D. L. Calwell stated that both women had been in a motor-car and that accused picked up the brooch and took it home. The owner, who •suspected that this was the case, advertised for the return of the trinket, and as the brooch was not forthcoming, complained to the police. Accused had seen the advertisement, but had said she was too frightened to return ne stolen article. She was a young woman of good character. L The magistrate convicted and dis- • uarged the accused. An order for the suppression of publication of the nam6 »aa made.
